The Lilac Festival

This show was the first big test of the new booth layout.  I was really excited about this show, as I’d done the show once before and was expecting pretty good attendance.  It’s at a small college in Eureka, Illinos.  Beautiful setting, with lilac trees blooming everywhere.

Here are Margo and I setting up the front table of the booth.  We had some bamboo trays to hold barrettes and pins, then the round black carousel display went on the left corner.  On the opposite corner, the one closest in this picture, is another one of those displays I’d bought at K’s Merchandise.  It’s a carousel that has pins for hanging merchandise on it.  I think originally it was for keychains.

This is the front of the booth.  We did have a problem with wind that day, and it was the last time I used the carousel on the right.  The wind kept blowing the carded items around, and we had to use rubber bands on the ends of the pins to keep the items from flying off the carousel.  The carousel sits in my closet today, waiting for an indoor show or gallery, I think.

Evaluating the show, we realized we still need to make some changes.  The displays were good, yes, but I think they could be better.  So we started monkeying with the way things were put on the tables.  And we really had no time, because we needed to be prepared for the next show, at a college in Charleston.
